Harry's Shoes For Kids On The UWS Is Moving Storefronts
The iconic Upper West Side business is consolidating its outpost back into its original neighborhood location.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — There are few more iconic Upper West Side businesses than Harry's Shoes.
A pair of signs were recently plastered onto the storefront of Harry's Shoes for Kids, which read: "We're moving! Join Us For The Opening Of Our New Children's Department At The Main Harry's Location This April."
The Harry's Shoes for Kids location is at 2315 Broadway, between West 83rd and 84th Streets, while the main business is a 20-second walk downtown at 2299 Broadway — the corner of West 83rd Street.

Ivan Castro, the manager of Harry's Shoes for Kids, told ILoveTheUpperWestSide that the consolidation of storefronts was for the following reasons:
"Toward the end, our lease had expired so we worked out a deal with the landlord and we were renting month by month, Castro told ILoveTheUpperWestSide. "He did work with us. He gave us a percent lower, okay. Then we were going month by month to see how everyone was going to unravel."

Castro also complimented the building's landlord for helping them through the transition and noted that supply chain issues with children's apparel have made running the business more challenging, reported ILoveTheUpperWestSide.
The children's section will now return to the back right corner of the main store as ownership looks for a new storefront.
Harry's Shoes first opened in New York City in 1931 and has been on the Upper West Side since 1975.
