Heavy Storms, Hot Temps In Store This Week In NYC: Latest Forecast

NEW YORK CITY — The city is in for another drenching storm this week, with showers and a thunderstorm likely on Tuesday, which could cause some ponding on the roads, according to the latest forecast.

The rain, which could start before 8 a.m. Tuesday, includes a couple of showers and a heavy thunderstorm in the morning, and a thundershower in the afternoon, National Weather Service forecasters said.

The rain will be followed by summer-like temperatures, with Wednesday reaching a high of 83 degrees and Thursday reaching a high of 87 degrees, National Weather Service forecasters said.

Friday and Saturday could see yet more showers and storms. Sunday is uncertain — whether it's dry or stormy depends on what happens with another cold front.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 69. East wind around 7 mph.

Monday night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 65. Light east wind.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 3 to 8 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 81.

Friday night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.
