Hit And Run Leaves Bicyclist Dead On The Upper West Side: Police

A 28-year-old man biking Saturday near Amsterdam and West 99th Street was hit and killed by a sedan that fled the scene, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 28-year-old man was biking alongside a 19-year-old Saturday at the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 99th Street when a dark-colored sedan struck the duo, sending both to the hospital, and killing the older man, police said.

Police arrived at the Upper West Side block around 1:30 a.m. to find both men with injuries throughout their bodies. The sedan, however, was nowhere to be found, as it fled northbound on Amsterdam after the impact, NYPD said.

Emergency services rushed both men to Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, where the 28-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later, and the 19-year-old was listed in stable condition, police said.
