UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Back in May, the Lincoln Center Plaza on the Upper West Side got a green makeover as part of a transformational project in coordination with the center's "Restart Stages" initiative.

The project, "The Green," transformed the approximately 14,000 square feet of open, concrete space on the Josie Robertson Plaza around the iconic Revson Fountain into a grassy, park-like area f0r Upper West Siders and New Yorkers to enjoy over the summer.

All good things have to come to an end, though, and Lincoln Center's plaza will be de-lawned on Tuesday, Sept. 7. The last day it will be open to the public is on Sept. 6.

The last chance for people to see an official event on the lawn will be Thursday when award-winning performer and choregrapher Preeti Vasudevan and her company Thresh Dance perform at 6 p.m.

The lawn was created out of recyclable, biobased SYNLawn, which is a grass-like material with a high soy content and fully sourced from U.S. farmers.

"The arts can be the centerpiece of New York's economic, social, and spiritual revival—a powerful vehicle to reconnect as we enter the spring season," said Henry Timms, President & CEO of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, in a news release sent out at the time of the lawn's opening. "We're thrilled to launch 'The GREEN,' a space for New Yorkers to re-energize, and find inspiration and uplift."
