Indian Restaurant With NY Times Buzz Opens On The Upper West Side

Kebab aur Sharab opened Thursday at 72nd Street between West End and Broadway. Here's what to know.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An anticipated Indian restaurant that got a write up in the New York Times opened Thursday on the Upper West Side.

Kebab aur Sharab, helmed by the successful restaurateur Salil Mehta, will serve customers at 247 W. 72nd St., between West End and Broadway.

"Dishes from our land that will take you on an odyssey of flavors," reads an About section on the eatery's website. "The spice from a Tandoori, the addictiveness of a Tikka Naan that melts in your mouth and so much more that will transport you to the field of Punjab."

The menu centers itself on kebabs and Indian street food, including purple yam crisp, lamb chops, river prawns curry, aslam butter chicken tikka, wagyu beef, crab legs, different types of bread, rices, and desserts.

The space has 55 seats in the main dinning room, with an additional 18 at the bar and around 20 in an outdoor dining set up.

The new restaurant will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., and on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will not open on Mondays.

The New York Times write up for Kebab aur Sharab mentioned that Mehta has previously run restaurants that won a Michelin star.
