UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A new restaurant opening Wednesday on the Upper West Side serves a brownstone dinner party vibe alongside classic Italian cuisine.

Osteria Accademia will welcome customers for the first time at 646 Amsterdam Ave., between 91st and 92nd streets, in the former home of shuttered Italian eatery Scarlatto.

The eatery is run by restaurateur Huseyin Ozer, who oversees popular Upper West Side mainstays Bodrum and Leyla, along with his business partner Murat Akinci.

"The duo conceived the restaurant with the Upper West Side residents in mind, creating an environment that makes them feel like they are in an Upper West Side brownstone dining room," reads a news release for the new restaurant.

The menu includes dishes such as house-made pasta, veal topped with tuna sauce and capers, eggplant parmesan, meatballs, ravioli, risotto, braised short ribs, a lamb burger, zeppole, cannolis, and a wine list as well as Italian craft beers.

Osteria Accademia fits 36 people indoors, 16 people in an outdoor dining structure, and 14 more on the sidewalk. It is open Sunday to Thursday from 4:30 to 10 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The name Osteria Accademia is a nod to the universities, schools, and academies that the Upper West Side is known for, said a news release

Given the underlying theme, the restaurant walls are lined with bookshelves.

"Their goal for the restaurant is to provide the community with a cozy spot," the news release said, "where it is easy to lose track of time over fine food, good wine, and intellectual conversation."
