Jerry Nadler Reminds People He's The Son Of A Chicken Farmer
Jerry Nadler did his best to fry Carolyn Maloney after it was revealed she lent her campaign $900,000 of her own money, new releases show.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Rep. Jerry Nadler egged on Rep. Carolyn Maloney after new filings showed that she lent her campaign nearly $1 million of her own money in the primary race for Manhattan's 12th congressional district.
"I'm the son of a chicken farmer - no fortune over here," Nadler tweeted Monday with a link to the New York Times article about Maloney's use of her own money.
The tweet quickly received hundreds of likes and dozens of retweets.

Nadler, born in Brooklyn in 1947, is indeed the son of a chicken farmer. Nadler's dad lost his poultry farm when the future elected official was seven years old.
The tweet came after filings released on Friday show that Maloney gave her campaign $900,000. All in all, her campaign has raised around $2 million in the race for the primary that will be held on August 23.

“There was never a doubt that I would continue to fight for the people in my district,” Maloney told the New York Times. “Thus, I decided to use some of my retirement savings to invest in this campaign.”
A spokesperson for Maloney told the New York Times that the funds came from her House retirement account.
Records show that Nadler has reported $500,000 in contributions for a total of $1.2 million raised, but told the Times that he did not lend his campaign any money.
