'Law & Order: SVU' To Film On The Upper West Side This Week

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Keep an eye out for Olivia Benson and the Law & Order: SVU squad — the long-running NBC crime drama will be filming on the Upper West Side on Wednesday.

The venerable TV drama, whose 27th season will bow Sept. 25, will be in the neighborhood to shoot some exteriors on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., so don’t be surprised if your block starts looking like a crime scene.

For nearly three decades the Special Victims Unit cast has been seen in and around the tri-state area shooting their "ripped-from-the-headlines" police procedural.

Star Mariska Hargitay has been the mainstay on the show, with her character Olivia Benson moving from the ranks of detective to captain, joined by Ice-T as an NYPD sergeant named Odafin Tutuola. This season the show welcomes back Kelli Giddish to the cast in a series regular role as Detective Amanda Rollins.

Cameras will roll on parts of West End Avenue, Riverside Drive and Broadway between 91st Street and 86th Street, and parking will be off-limits on parts of those streets starting Tuesday to make room for production trucks and gear, according to signs posted around the neighborhood over the weekend.

If drivers don't move their cars by 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, they will be towed, according to a pink sign posted in the area.

• North side of 90th Street between West End Avenue and Broadway
• North side of 89th Street between Riverside Drive and Broadway
• East side of West End Avenue between West 90th Street and West 88th Street
• Both sides of Riverside Drive between West 86th Street and West 87th Street
• West side of Riverside Drive between West 88th Street and West 89th Street
• Both sides of West 87th Street between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue
• North side of West 87th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue
• West side of Broadway between West 89th Street and West 86th Street
• West side of Broadway between West 90th Street and West 91st Street
• East side of Broadway between West 89th Street and West 87th Street
