Lincoln Center is hosting two events on Sunday to honor the anniversary of the first reported COVID-19 death in New York City.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Lincoln Center on Sunday will host two events as part of a ceremony to honor the anniversary of New York City's first reported COVID-19 death.

On March 14, 2020, an 82-year-old woman in NYC who suffered from emphysema became the first New Yorker to die from the virus.

The first event will be a virtual performance by the Young People's Chorus of New York City. The group will be singing "You'll Never Walk Alone," and you can watch it at noon on Lincoln Center's Facebook, YouTube, and website.

Later in the day, a 30-minute candle memorial will begin at 8 p.m. surrounding the Revson Fountain in the heart of the Lincoln Center campus.

The candles will honor the approximately 30,000 New Yorkers who have lost their lives so far in the pandemic.
