UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man broke into an Upper West Side synagogue and stole money from its donation box, police said.

The thief entered Ottav Shalom Synagogue on West 84th Street on the night of Dec. 24 through a front door, police said. The door was left unlocked despite the temple being closed at the time of the burglary, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Once inside, the man swiped $50 from the synagogue's charity donation box and then left the building, police said. The NYPD released photos of the suspect on Tuesday.
