UPDATE: Man Found Dead In Central Park Monday Morning, Police Say
An unresponsive man was discovered in Central Park on Monday morning. Police initially told Patch the man was found near Central Park West.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Monday morning, police received a 911 call regarding an unconscious person near Central Park West and West 97th Street, authorities told Patch.
At the scene, officers found a 24-year-old male, who was unconscious and unresponsive, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on scene, according to police, and an investigation is ongoing.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, and the man’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
An NYPD spokesperson did not confirm whether or not the man had been found within Central Park, although the incident was reported within the Central Park Precinct.

The crossstreets given are near the 97th Street Transverse, as well as a park entrance that leads to the North Meadow.
UPDATE: "They're still trying to ID the person, and there are no updates as of this time," a police spokesperson told Patch on Tuesday morning.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Although authorities initially said that the man was found near Central Park West, the man was actually found near Fifth Avenue, not far from the North Meadow near the 97th Street Traverse.
