UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man was shot in the leg while on a busy Upper West Side roadway early Wednesday evening, according to police officials.

The shooting started just after 6 p.m. when the 29-year-old victim was shot once in the right leg on the Henry Hudson Parkway near W. 108th Street, officials said.

Police sources said that the victim was behind the wheel when gunfire erupted, and the individual responsible for the shooting was also operating a vehicle.

Police have stated that it is currently unclear whether the two individuals knew each other, and no description of the suspect has been provided.

First responders rushed the man to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear at this time, officials said.

A police spokesperson said no arrests or charges have been announced as of Thursday morning.
