Man Shot On Upper West Side, Police Say

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man was shot while walking on the Upper West Side overnight on Friday, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the 41-year-old man was walking uptown on Amsterdam Avenue approaching West 89th Street when he saw a man brandishing a gun around 12:10 a.m.

Police told Patch that the victim crossed the street and started running away from the gunman when he realized he had been shot in the upper left leg.

The NYPD doesn't have information on where the man was treated for his injuries, but authorities said the man is expected to survive the attack.

No suspects have been arrested yet, and the incident is under investigation, police said.
