Man Slashed In The Back On UWS Train During Unprovoked Attack: Police

A 22-year-old was riding a C train near West 81st Street Sunday night, when he was attacked from behind, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A slasher cut a man in the back in an unprovoked attack on an Upper West Side train Sunday night, police said.

A 22-year-old man was riding a northbound C train near West 81st Street and Central Park West about 11:30 p.m. when he was slashed in the back with what was "possibly a knife," police told Patch.

The attacker then fled as the train pulled into the West 81st Street station, police said.

The 22-year-old suffered minor injuries from the unprovoked slashing and was treated within the station by medics, police said.

The attacker appeared to be a teenager, police said, but provided no other description of the slasher.

Police said no arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
