Man Slashed On UWS Train After Spitting On Teen: NYPD
Two people were arrested after a fight on an Upper West Side train led to a slashing, police said.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A teenager slashed a man Wednesday after the man spit on him while riding a train on the Upper West Side, police said.
Bonfilio Garcia, 19, was riding the D train near 59th Street-Columbus Circle when James Anderson, 60, spit on him for no reason, police told Patch.
The spit caused a fight to break out and Anderson eventually place Garcia in a chokehold, police said.

Garcia then struck Anderson with a belt and slashed him, police said.
Both people were then arrested.

Charges against Garcia:
- Assault
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Two Counts)
Charges against Anderson
- Criminal Obstruction of Breathing
- Assault in the Third Degree
The fight and slashing come three days after a 22-year-old man was slashed while riding a northbound C train near West 81st Street and Central Park West.
