Man Spat On In Suspected Hate Crime On UWS Street: NYPD
Police are investigating an alleged hate crime after a man spat on a stranger in an unprovoked attack on an Upper West Side street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man was spat on by a stranger in an unprovoked attack on the Upper West Side, police said.
Officers received a report of aggravated harassment on Sunday, June 16, at about 4 p.m. in front of 530 Amsterdam Avenue, near W. 86th Street, officials said.
Police were informed that a 74-year-old man was standing in front of the entrance to a Key Food supermarket when an unidentified individual, described as behaving disorderly and in an unsafe manner, approached and spat on him.

The attacker then fled on foot southbound on Amsterdam Avenue to parts unknown, police said.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.

The attacker is described as a man with a light complexion and heavy build, approximately 35 to 45 years old, standing 5'10" tall, and weighing 200 lbs. He has short black hair and was last seen wearing gray shorts, a maroon and yellow shirt and black sneakers.
Cops released surveillance footage of the suspect on Thursday, asking for the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
