Tourist Slashed In Face On West 86th Street, Suspect Charged: Police
A man was rushed to the hospital after he was slashed in the face on the Upper West Side on Wednesday morning, officials confirmed.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – A 55-year-old man was slashed in the face near 114 West 86th Street on Wednesday morning, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.
The incident happened at about 10:20 a.m., officials said. Cops arrived and learned that an unidentified man had slashed the victim, a tourist, in the face and the ear.
Emergency responders transported the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in stable condition.

The accused slasher, 25-year-old West Sider Joshua Zinberg, fled westbound on 86th Street. He faces serious charges in connection with the incident, including three felonies, police said: attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and criminal possession in the fourth degree.
Zinberg has no priors, a police spokesperson confirmed, although he is reportedly known to law enforcement. According to ABC7, Zinberg was turned in by his mother, who recognized her son in media reports.

The victim is reportedly a retired professional soccer player.
It's unclear what, if anything, happened before the attack, or if the two men involved knew one another.
The incident occurred just days after three New Yorkers were killed in a series of unprovoked stabbings.
