Man Struck And Killed By Train At Columbus Circle, Major Delays: NYPD

A 32-year-old man was struck and killed by a 1 train on the Upper West Side about 7:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A person was struck and killed on the Upper West Side Thursday morning, a police spokesperson confirmed to Patch.

A 32-year-old man was hit by a 1 train about 7:15 a.m. at the 59th Street Columbus Circle station, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, NYPD added.

The investigation is ongoing but it does not seem like a criminal act was involved, police told Patch.

There are major delays Thursday morning due to the emergency team response, with southbound 1 trains running express as of 9 a.m. from 72nd Street to Times Square, and significant delays to the 1, 2, and 3 lines, according to the MTA.

Additionally, 2 and 3 trains are running local in both directions between Chambers Street and 34th Street - Penn Station, and some southbound 2 trains are running on the 5 line between 149th Street and Nevins Street, the MTA said.
