UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The massive 30,000 square-foot vacant storefront on the Upper West Side that housed DSW for a decade before closing in 2022 is getting a new tenant, the Commercial Observer reported on Monday.

The retailer P.C. Richard & Son will leave its longtime home at 2372 Broadway, between West 86th and 87th streets, and move into the larger storefront at 2220 Broadway on the corner of West 79th Street, a source with knowledge of the deal told the Commercial Observer.

"P.C. Richard & Son is excited to continue to serve the customers of the Upper West Side for many years to come," Erin Grace of JLL, who helped broker the deal, told the real estate publication.

The 79th Street building is owned by the Zabar family, who also run the nearby iconic deli.

There are few more recognizable storefronts on the Upper West Side than the 2220 Broadway address

The combination of multiple train entrances on West 79th Street, the nearby entrance to the West Side Highway, and the surrounding number of businesses make it one of the busier areas in the neighborhood.

Before DSW moved into the Upper West Side storefront, it was a Filene's Basement outpost.

It is unclear what the exact length of the lease is and when P.C. Richard & Son will be up and running in the new storefront.

The electronic and appliance retailer has 13 stores in New York City.

The decision to move also means that P.C. Richard & Son's old storefront at 2372 Broadway will become vacant.
