Michelin-Recommended Soup Dumplings Coming To UWS

Eater-designated "thin-skinned and wonderfully wobbly" soup dumpling buns will be available soon in the Upper West Side. Here's the latest.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - A Michelin-recommended soup dumpling chain has signed a lease for a new restaurant in the Upper West Side.

Nan Xiang Soup Dumpling will be moving into 2783 Broadway between 107 and 108th streets at the site of the Broadway Bubbles laundromat. An opening date has yet to be announced.

The 1,400-square-foot location was leased at $160 per foot, according to Silverline Realty Group, which brokered the deal. The lease will expire in 15 years.

Nan Xiang Soup Dumpling opened as Nan Xiang Xiaolongbao in Flushing, Queens in 2006 and has expanded to locations in Forest Hills, Chelsea, Flushing, Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn, as well as Boston, Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Ellicott City, Maryland.

Locations in the works include Westbury, East Rutherford, King of Prussia and Manhattan’s East Village.

It has been a Michelin-recommended restaurant for nine years, according to its website.

Signature dishes include crab and pork soup dumplings, as well as spring noodles, dumplings, potstickers, and scallion pancakes.
