Morton Williams Opens Third Upper West Side Location
The newest location of the popular family-owned upscale grocery opened on Friday.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Upper West Side's newest Morton Williams is now open.
Nearly 18 months after first signing a lease, the family-owned grocer's massive, third Upper West Side store opened its doors on Friday at a massive, block-long space at 2015 Broadway, between West 68th and 69th streets.
"We have amazing specials and more!" the local chain wrote on Instagram. "We can’t wait to see and serve you!!"

But this Broadway location holds a special meaning.

For years, locals have demanded a new grocer open in the area, long considered a food desert by residents since the 2013 closure of a Food Emporium located across the street.
In 2019, Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal and then-Borough President Gale Brewer both voiced support in asking the landlord to find a new grocery-based tenant, as there had been one located in that space for over 50 years, according to Brewer.
But while the new one is not inside of 2008 Broadway, across the street appears to work just as well.
And, according to IlovetheUpperWestSide, this Morton Williams isn't going anywhere fast, with the owners telling the local news blog that they've signed a 30-year lease at the new location.
