Mother Confronts Nanny Accused Of Killing 2 UWS Kids: Reports

Marina Krim came face-to-face with the accused killer of her two children while testifying in the murder trial of ex-nanny Yoselyn Ortega.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The mother of two children who were murdered in their Upper West Side home nearly six years ago came face-to-face with their accused killer. Marina Krim, mother of slain 6-year-old Lulu Krim and 2-year-old Leo Krim, testified in court Thursday and Friday against accused murderer Yoselyn Ortega, according to multiple reports.

The testimony was both somber and fiery. On Thursday, the mother was forced to relive the moment she returned home on Oct. 25, 2o12 to find two of her children stabbed to death and Ortega attempting to take her own life, the New York Times reported.

"It was the most awful feeling in the world," Krim testified, accoridng to the Times. "She killed my best friends. These kids were my best friends."

On Friday morning, Krim's testimony was filled with anger, the New York Post reported. The mother shouted at the accused killer and called the former nanny evil before storming out of the courtroom, the Post reporter. Krim also shouted at Ortega's lawyers, calling them liars, according to the report.

Ortega is facing two counts of murder, according to court records. The 2012 murders shocked members of the Upper West Side community and captured the attention of New York City as a whole. Neighbors expressed disbelief that Ortega was capable of the violent act due to her closeness with the Krim family, the Daily News reported in 2012. The family had even spent several days with the nanny's family while vacationing in the Dominican Republic, according to the report.

Ortega has been held in custody with no option for bail since her arrest.
