New Bake Shop From Co-Founder Of Magnolia Bakery Coming To UWS
Buttercup Bake Shop will open soon on the Upper West Side, according to signage that recently went up on a storefront window at 72nd Street.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A new bake shop from one of the co-founders of Magnolia Bakery is opening soon on the Upper West Side.
Signage recently went up at 166 W. 72nd St. (between Amsterdam and Columbus) for Buttercup Bake Shop, which already has four locations in Manhattan and used to have a storefront on the Upper West Side.
The new location is across the street from the old bakery at 141 W. 72nd St.

The bakery chain was founded by Jennifer Appel, who helped open Magnolia Bakery in 1996.
After three years, she ventured out on her own to open Buttercup Bakery, which focuses on old-fashioned American desserts and the ambiance of its storefronts.

Buttercup serves up cupcakes, cakes, bars, cookies, puddings, breakfast treats, and pies.
Its cupcakes include red velvet, chocolate chip cookie dough, chunky monkey, fun-fetti birthday cake, smores, spiced carrot, and more.
The bakery also has an assortment of gluten-free options.
Buttercup Bake Shop is taking over the storefront from the pizza spot, My Pie.
The bakery is expected to open near the end of the summer.
The New York Business Journal was the first publication to report on the new Upper West Side bakery opening.
