New Bakery Collab From Silver Moon Opening This Week
Wake up and smell the muffins.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Pastry lovers, rejoice: A new bakery collaboration from the beloved Silver Moon Bakery and Buttercup Bakery is opening on the Upper West Side on Friday.
The new, yet-to-be-named bakery will open Friday on Broadway between 101st Street and 102nd Street, just three blocks from where Silver Moon stood for more than 25 years before closing in March due to a real estate dispute.
"The new owner, Hazem Elgohary, loves and respects our work and place in the community," Judith Norell, the longtime owner of Silver Moon, told Patch in an email.

Silver Moon's beloved breads, pastries, and cakes will be on offer in the new space, as well as Buttercup Bakery's cupcakes, cakes and bars, Norell said.
Norell, as well as many of Silver Moon's employees, will be involved at the new bakery, Norell said.

"We have missed all our friends and customers, a long-time part of the fabric of our lives," the Upper West Sider said.
Though the official opening is on Friday, Norell said if neighbors want to drop by on Thursday, there might be some treats ready.
"If people who pass by drop in to say hello on Thursday, we'll probably have some breads and breakfast treats, perhaps even some pastries," Norell said.
"We're so happy to be back!" Norell said.
The new bakery will be located at 2664 Broadway in Manhattan.
