New Southwestern UWS Eatery Opens In Former Home Of Gabriella's

Agave opened Thursday for the first time at 688 Columbus Ave., the former home of the popular Mexican spot Gabriella's.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A new southwestern restaurant opened on the Upper West Side Thursday in the former home of the popular Mexican eatery Gabriella's.

Agave opened for dinner Thursday night at 688 Columbus Ave. (corner of 93rd Street), a restaurant employee confirmed to Patch.

Moving forward, the restaurant will be open every day from noon to 11 p.m.

Agave, which also has locations in Kipps Bay and the West Village, is known for its southwestern cuisine, its brunch experience, and cocktails.

The menu includes empanadas, nachos, huevos rancheros, eggs benedict, pancakes, tacos, burgers, margaritas, mimosas, and more.

Agave signed a 15-year lease in 2021 for the 4,400 square-feet of ground floor, 1,500 square-feet of patio, and 300 square-feet of basement at the address.

Previously, the Mexican spot Gabriella's served customers at the restaurant for 15 years, before closing in 2019.

The large venue remained empty in the years between.
