UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A new Italian restaurant is opening on the Upper West Side in the former home of a neighborhood staple.

For most local foodies, the address at the corner of West 77th Street and Columbus Avenue is remembered as the location of Isabella's — a Mediterranean restaurant that operated in the neighborhood for 30 years before abruptly closing in 2017.

It now appears as a new restaurant at 359 Columbus Ave. is taking over the space as signage recently went up for La Pecora Bianca.

It has an extensive wine list and a food menu that includes Cacio e Pepe Fritters, Zucchini Fries, Burrata, Roasted Cauliflower, Milanese Sandwich, different types of pasta, Branzino, Scallops, Dry Aged Ribeye, and more.

"For us and our guests, Italian is not just a cuisine, it’s a way of life: a social ritual centered around food and drink that makes every day feel a little more fully lived," La Pecora Bianca writes on its website.

The address is also a welcoming one due to its proximity to the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park tourist populations.

Most recently a restaurant named 8th Hill operated at 359 Columbus Ave., but closed not long after opening.

La Pecora Biana has not announced when exactly it will open its new Upper West Side outpost.
