Pedestrian Killed In Overnight Car Crash In Manhattan, Police Say
The victim was killed less than a block from his apartment, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 57-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Wednesday on the Upper West Side, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, Upper West Sider Patrice Brooks was crossing the intersection diagonally at 86th Street and Broadway when a 41-year-old woman driving a Ford van driving east on 86th Street struck him on Wednesday at 4:27 a.m. Police said that the woman had the green traffic signal.
When medics arrived, they rushed Brooks to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was pronounced dead from the impact, police said.

The intersection is less than a block from Brooks' apartment, police said.
The driver remained on the scene, and there are no arrests yet, police said. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.
