Person Struck By Train On Upper West Side, Major Delays: NYPD

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A train struck a person who lay down on the tracks Wednesday afternoon on the Upper West Side, a police spokesperson told Patch.

The person was struck around 2 p.m. at the West 66th Street 1 train station, police said.

There is no expected foul play, police told Patch. NYPD could specify the condition of the person.

Straphangers should expect delays on the 1, 2, and 3 lines as emergency services respond to the person, the MTA tweeted out.

Service on the 3 line is completely suspended as of 2:30 p.m.

Southbound 1 trains are running express from 96 St to Times Sq-42 St.
For service to/from bypassed stations, take a northbound train.

Last week, two people were struck and killed by trains on the Upper West Side. In both incidents, the person was killed after jumping in front of incoming trains.
