UPPERW WEST SIDE, NY — Police released a photo and new information Friday about an attacker wanted for slashing a man on an Upper West Side.

The couple were approached by a man — and without communication or provocation — he tried to sit on the woman, police said.

The 26-year-old man told him to "step back from his girlfriend," which prompted the attacker to slash him on the lower left leg with a kitchen knife, police said.

The woman then immediately fired off pepper spray at the slasher, and he ran off the train and fled, police said.
