Police killed a man on Thursday night after he shot at officers on the Upper East Side, New York City Police Department officials told Patch.

Police said in a press conference Thursday night that the man had brandished a gun at multiple people on Madison Avenue — first pointing it at an elevator rider, then threatening a deli worker and declaring he planned to "shoot up" Mount Sinai hospital before entering the hospital and struggling with an off-duty officer who was serving as security for the hospital.

'Unimaginable': UES High School Mourns Student After Fatal Fall
Members of the Regis High School are grieving on the Upper East Side after a 16-year-old student fell from a fifth-floor window and died on Thursday, school administrators said.
The student fell from a fifth-floor window of the East 84th Street building around 9:29 a.m., according to the New York City Police Department. He was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Man Shot On Upper West Side, Police Say
A man was shot while walking on the Upper West Side overnight on Friday, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, the 41-year-old man was walking uptown on Amsterdam Avenue approaching West 89th Street when he saw a man brandishing a gun around 12:10 a.m.

1 Killed In NYC House Fire: FDNY
One person was killed in a house fire in Queens Thursday night, the FDNY said.
The blaze broke out at 48-32 194 St.in Auburndale around 8 p.m. The victim was found dead in a second-floor bedroom. One firefighter also suffered minor injuries.
Man Charged For Vandalizing 11 NYPD Vehicles In Queens
A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged after nearly a dozen NYPD vehicles were vandalized in Queens on Monday, police said on Thursday.
Christian Genwright, of Long Island, faces a slew of charges including reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
