Popular Butterfly Conservatory Returns To Natural History Museum
After a one-year hiatus, the Butterfly Conservatory is returning to the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The butterflies are returning to the American Museum of Natural History! After a one-year hiatus, the popular Butterfly Conservatory is opening again within the famous Upper West Side museum on Nov. 20.
It will be the 23rd year the attraction comes to the museum.
The Butterfly Conservatory is a 1,200-square-foot vivarium that visitors can stroll through and interact with up to 500 fluttering butterflies. The winding pathway is surrounded by tropical plants and flowers.

The space is kept upwards of 80 degrees.

The Butterfly Conservatory will be open through May 30, 2022.
Its butterflies come from farms in Florida, Costa Rica, Kenya, Thailand, Malaysia, Ecuador, and Australia. The featured species include iridescent blue morpho butterflies, scarlet swallowtail butterflies, and green birdwing butterflies.
