Popular UWS Bakery Sued By Landlord: Report
Silver Moon Bakery has been an Upper West Side staple since it opened in 2000.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Silver Moon Bakery, which has been doling out baked goods to Upper West Siders on Broadway and West 105th Street since 2000, could be facing eviction, Crain's reported.
The bakery's landlord, Broadside Realty, filed a lawsuit in Manhattan state Supreme Court on Friday accusing the business of owing more than $200,000 after refusing to leave the location when the lease ended eight months ago on May 31, Crain's reported.
The lawsuit records show that the judge's decision on the request to evict the bakery is pending. In the meantime, the bakery appears to be open as usual.

"Our lease has not been renewed, and for whatever reason the landlord continued to accept our rent through July and then suddenly stopped accepting our rent," Judith Norell, the founder and one of the owners of the bakery, told Patch.
"But we've been in the community for over 24 years and we want to continue working here. We employ 25 people. Most of our employees know our customers, know their children, and their dogs. They're involved in their lives," Norell, who has lived on the Upper West Side since the 1970s, said. "We're a neighborhood staple, not a big chain."
