Raising Cane's Eyes UWS For New Outpost, Replacing Mel’s Burger Bar
The iconic fast-food chicken chain is looking to open its newest New York City store on the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Raising Cane's, a fast-food chain known for its chicken, has reportedly picked its newest spot for one of its next locations: the Upper West Side.
The company plans to open its latest New York City store at 2850 Broadway, located between West 110th and 111th streets, a spot formerly occupied by Mel’s Burger Bar, a longstanding burger joint near Columbia University’s Morningside Heights campus.
Mel’s Burger Bar has been serving up burgers, fries, milkshakes, beer and more since 2010. The restaurant ceased operations in December, though no specific reason was provided for its closure.

The popular southern fast-food chain's specialties include chicken fingers (with signature Cane's sauce), chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast and sweet tea.
The chain did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the opening timeline.
Raising Cane's planned store on the Upper West Side is one of many new NYC sites that will open within the next few months, a company spokesperson previously said.
The chain opened a new location in Harlem just a few months ago.
