Riverside Park Rotunda To Be Renovated, Report Says
The $150 million renovation project is expected to take three to four years.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The city Parks Department and Department of Transportation are planning a full renovation of the three-level rotunda and Amtrak bridge in Riverside Park at West 79th Street, according to reports.
Details of the $150 million renovation project were revealed during a joint meeting of Community Board 7's parks & environment and transportation committees, the West Side rag first reported. City officials predicted the project will begin in 2019 — after attaining the required city and state approvals — and take three to four years.
City officials said the rotunda would need to be partially closed for two portions of the construction period and fully closed for one "short" portion, the West Side Rag reported. The exact duration of the closures is unclear.

Much of the work being done on the rotunda and bridge will include restoring infrastructure such as the roadways, ramps and sidewalks. The city will also upgrade the rotunda to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, upgrade nearby restrooms and take measures to increase pedestrian and cyclist safety, the West Side Rag reported.
The Community Board did not take a position on the renovations during its meeting, the West Side Rag reported.
