Scooter Driver Badly Hurt After Colliding With Minivan On UWS: NYPD
A minivan collided with a Vespa Monday night on the Upper West Side, leaving the scooter driver in critical condition, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A scooter driver is in critical condition after colliding with a minivan Monday night on the Upper West Side, police said.
A 44-year-old man was driving a minivan around 7:30 p.m. westbound through the intersection at West 97th Street and Central Park West, when he collided with a 26-year-old man driving a Vespa scooter southbound along the avenue, police said.
The Vespa driver was ejected from his scooter and came crashing down to the cement, police said.

The 26-year-old suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition, police said.
The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and did not sustain any injuries, police said.

The collision is being investigated by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad.
