Suspicious Object Found At UWS Subway Station Causing Service Disruptions

The object was found at the 86th Street station shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Service is suspended in some areas as police investigate a suspicious object found at an Upper West Side subway station.

An NYPD spokesperson said police responded to the 86th Street station shortly before 1:30 p.m. after the object was found on the platform.

The NYPD Bomb Squad and K-9 Unit also responded to the scene, police said.

While the device appeared to be a pressure cooker, police said they are awaiting official confirmation.

The incident remains under investigation.

According to NYC Transit, there is no 1 and 3 service between Times Square and 42nd and 96th Streets in both directions. No. 2 trains are running via the No. 5 train in both directions between Nevins and 149th Street.

Straphangers may wait longer for the 4 and 5 trains in both directions while rerouted trains share the tracks, officials said.
