Stabbing On C Train: Person Knifed After Refusing Would-Be Robber's Demands, NYPD Says
BREAKING: A 61-year-old victim was able to strike the alleged robber in the head and call for help.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY– A man was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen on board a southbound C train after he refused a would-be robber's demands to give him his property, the NYPD said.
The incident unfolded on a southbound C train around 5:45 a.m. as it was approaching the 59th Street station. An NYPD spokesman told Patch that a 61-year-old man was approached by a suspect, identified as a 39-year-old male, who demanded the man's property. The 61-year-old man refused and a struggle ensued, causing the man to be stabbed multiple times in the abdomen, the spokesman said.
During the struggle, the 61-year-old victim was able to strike the suspect with an object that caused him to suffer a laceration in the head, according to the NYPD. (For more news from your NYC neighborhood, subscribe to Patch for real time news alerts and our free morning newsletter.)

The suspect also attempted to rob a 28-year-old man, demanding his cellphone and knapsack but the victim refused, the NYPD spokesman said. The 28-year-old man was not injured.
According to the NYPD, the 61-year-old man alerted the train conductor and police were waiting at 59th Street, where the 39-year-old man was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

The suspect was taken to Roosevelt Hospital while the victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The train was running express at the time of the incident and had left 125th Street.
