UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - An alleged would-be burglar entered a 70-year-old woman’s Upper West Side apartment over the weekend by scaling a fire escape and opening a window, authorities said.

The man entered the residential building on West 76th Street and Broadway on Saturday at around 6:50 p.m., the New York Police Department said.

Once inside, the man attempted to remove property, but was confronted by the resident and fled.

No property was removed and there were no reported injuries.
