Sweeping Changes Set For Upper West Side Barnes & Noble: Here's What
The Barnes & Noble at the corner of Wet 82nd Street and Broadway will undergo multiple renovations starting in January.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A multitude of changes are coming to the Upper West Side Barnes & Noble, a spokesperson from the store told Patch.
Renovations will begin in January 2023 within the book chain's location at the corner of West 82nd Street and Broadway.

- Refitting the store with new fixtures
- Refitting the store with new furniture
- Fully renovate the cafe
- Expand the gifting department
The Barnes & Noble team is also working on bringing a new curation of books to provide the "very best assortments tailored to our Upper West Side customer," a spokesperson from the store said.
The location is expected to remain open during the renovations.

Indeed, after a difficult past few years, Barnes & Noble says it is now opening bookstores at an "unprecedented rate," with 16 new locations opening this calendar year compared to just one or two each year during the decade after 2009.
More than 30 new Barnes & Noble bookstores will open in 2023, including one on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn set for a January opening, and another on the Upper East Side in the spring.
The new UES location, which was also announced Tuesday along with the UWS renovation, will open at 1556 Third Ave., on the corner of East 87th Street, occupying a storefront previously home to Duane Reade.
The Barnes & Noble at West 82nd Street and Broadway first opened in 1993.
