UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – Some like it hot, others like it sweet, and savvy West Siders know exactly where to find a decadent treat.

In a lively thread on social media site Reddit, neighbors shared their favorite places to indulge – and the over-the-top coffee creations that keep them coming back for more.

Although Black Press, at 274 Columbus Avenue near 73rd Street, apparently “always has a line,” what’s inside is worth the wait.

“Their honey cinnamon flavor is so good,” according to one poster. “Taste[s] like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.”

Just a block away, the aforementioned pastry-inspired lattes await at Modern Bread, at 472 Columbus Avenue.

For the fruit-forward, Fillup Coffee – at 2486 Broadway near 93rd Street – does a cold brew with a “splash” of grapefruit and club soda, a concoction they call the “Cold Brew Highball.”

Although 110th Street marks the northern boundary of the Upper West Side, it’s also an invisible line, and nothing is stopping you from visiting or revisiting the recently reopened Hungarian Pastry Shop, at 1030 Amsterdam Avenue near 111th Street, which serves a “divine” Viennese coffee.

Coincidentally, the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine is right across the street.

A few blocks closer to Columbia University, “lots of syrups” are on hand at Oren’s, at 2882 Broadway, which serves an “amazing” – and seasonally appropriate – pumpkin pie latte.

House-made syrup is also available at Solid State, at 104 West 71st Street near Columbus Avenue, which is rumored to be the home of a “top tier” chocolate cookie.

Known for its syrups, the renamed Picky Barista, with three locations in the neighborhood, is apparently fully capable of making “some very sweet specialties.”

Last but not least, Artisan Cafe, at 608A Amsterdam Avenue between 89th and 90th Street, is “epic,” and boasts a “large menu of different sweet specialty drinks.”

Feeling overwhelmed by such abundance? Take it one sip at a time. Besides, autumn is here, which means there’s no better time to cozy up with an indulgent coffee creation. Remember: nothing exceeds like excess.
