UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Metropolitan Opera, American Museum of Natural History, and Symphony Space, and dozens of other Upper West Side organizations have gotten emergency relief grants from the federal government, according to a recent update — however other neighborhood venues may still be waiting.

Over $74 million have gone to Upper West Side establishments as part of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant — a component of last December's stimulus package also known as Save Our Stages.

Though the $16 billion program has been a lifeline to many venues that lost out on months of revenue during the pandemic, it was also plagued by an initially slow rollout. As of Monday, just $7.6 billion had been distributed, leaving lots of money left to be claimed, according to a report by the Small Business Administration.
