Time Warner Center Evacuated Day After CNN Bomb Scare: Police
An unattended package was cleared from the Columbus Circle mall after being deemed safe by the NYPD bomb squad.

COLUMBUS CIRCLE, NY — The Time Warner Center in Columbus Cirlce was evacuated for the second time in two days on Thursday night after the NYPD investigated an unattended package in the building's mall, police officials said.
The NYPD bomb squad and emergency services unit responded to the scene around 8 p.m. to check on a pair of packages, NYPD Spokesman J. Peter Donald said. The packages were deemed safe and people were being let back into the mall around 8:40 p.m., Donald said.

Thursday night's invident does not appear related to a bomb scare that forced an evacuation of the Time Warner Center on Wednesday morning.

An unsophisticated, yet functional pipe bomb — similar to those recently sent to the homes of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama — and an envelope of white powder were found in the mailroom of the CNN offices at 10 Columbus Circle at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo held a press conference at Columbus Circle Wednesday afternoon to commend city law enforcement agencies, CNN and to ask New Yorkers remain calm.

"We are New Yorkers; we are smart, we are tough, we are resilient and we will not allow these terrorist thugs to change the way we live our lives," said Cuomo. "Terrorism only works if you let it work."
