Upper West Side Bank Robbed Of Nearly $4K, Police Say

Police asked for help identifying a man they said stole thousands in cash from a Broadway bank branch after passing a threatening note.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A note-passing man made off with thousands in cash when he robbed an Upper West Side bank on Monday, according to police.

The unidentified man walked into the Chase Bank on Broadway between West 95th and 96th streets just after 4 p.m. Monday.

He approached the teller's counter and passed a note that demanded money, police said. The teller complied, gave the man $3,960 in cash, and the robber left the bank and began walking north along Broadway, according to police.

No one was hurt, police said.

Hours later, police released surveillance images showing the man inside the bank, standing at the teller's counter and carrying a bag.
