Upper West Side Election Guide 2022: What To Know About Local Races

Here's a breakdown of the candidates and incumbents running on the Upper West Side this election.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Election Day is right around the corner on Nov. 8 and there will be a multitude of races for candidates representing the Upper West Side.

It does not mean, though, that there will be any competitive races, or even many races that are contested at all.

Here are the Upper West Side races that will be on the ballot this Election Day.

Assembly District 67 (West 42nd to 92nd streets)

  • Linda Rosenthal is running uncontested to keep her seat. She also ran uncontested in the primary.

State Senate District 47 (West Village through around West 101st Street)

  • Brad Hoylman is running to represent the new District 47 seat after defeating Maria Danzilo in the primary, who had previously run for the Upper West Side City Council spot. Danzilo is on the ballot again in November, this time as a third-party candidate along with Robert Bobrick, who is running under the Medical Freedom Party.

Congressional District 12 (Entirety of Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and Midtown)

  • After defeating Rep. Carolyn Maloney and Suraj Patel in the Democratic primary, Jerry Nadler is facing off against two more candidates in the general election. Nadler is going up against Republican Mike Zumbluskas and third-party candidate Mikhail Itkis.

Statewide Races

There are also four state executive offices up for election on Nov. 8: governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and comptroller.

Governor

  • Incumbent Kathy Hochul (D) vs. Lee Zeldin (R)

Lieutenant Governor

  • Incumbent Antonio Delgado (D) vs. Alison Esposito (R)

Attorney General

  • Incumbent Letitia James (D) vs. Michael Henry (R)

Comptroller

  • Incumbent Thomas P. DiNapoli (D) vs. Paul Rodriguez (R)

Proposals

There will also be four ballot proposals to decide on this election.

  • Proposal 1: Clean Water, Clean Air, And Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022.
  • Proposal 2: Add a Statement of Values to Guide Government
  • Proposal 3: Establish a Racial Equity Office, Plan, and Commission
  • Proposal 4: Measure the True Cost of Living

The early-voting period lasts from Oct. 29 to Nov. 6. You can find available times to vote on the above link.
