Upper West Side Fire Injures 1, FDNY Says

The person suffered minor injuries when a fire broke out in a seven-story building on West 71st Street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — One person was injured when a fire broke out Thursday afternoon in an Upper West Side apartment building, an FDNY spokesman said.

The fire broke out on the top floor of the seven-story building at 342 W. 71st Street, located between West End Avenue and Riverside Boulevard, shortly before 3 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. Twelve fire units, consisting of 60 fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene of the fire.

The person who was injured suffered minor injuries and had not been transported to a hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but will be investigated.
