UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side linen store on the verge of closing for years has officially shuttered after more than six decades in the neighborhood, it confirmed in an Instagram post.

Laytner's Linen & Home has permanently closed its storefront at 2276 Broadway on the corner of West 82nd Street and Broadway, the store announced on Thursday.

"After a six-decade Broadway run, Layner's Linen & Home has closed its doors," the Laytner family wrote on Instagram. "We've been blessed to have lived, raised families, and prospered in one the most storied neighborhoods in New York City. Thank you, dear neighbors, for 61 years of support."

Joseph and Helen Laytner bought a small candy store at the address in 1961, selling newspapers, coffees, egg cremes, and ice cream to the neighborhood. In 1970, they transformed the candy shop into a linen store.

The business has sold home goods, bedding, quilts, blankets, pillows, towels, and robes ever since.

"Who you sleep with is your business, what you sleep with is ours," reads the company's slogan.

The store was first expected to go out of business in 2018, when a sign appeared on its window thanking the Upper West Side for 57 years of business. The family business was able to hang on until last week, though.

"OMG so sad," one person commented on the closing Instagram post. "Loved your store. You will be missed."
