Upper West Side Stores Targeted In Citywide Robbery Spree: Police

A pair of UWS stores were targeted in a strong-arm robbery spree that began at the end of June and continued into July.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A pair of Upper West Side stores that were recently robbed at knifepoint have been connected to a citywide crime pattern, police said over the weekend.

Police are searching for a man who is connected to 10 robberies across four boroughs between June 21 and July 4, including at delis at West 105th and Broadway and at West 108th Street and Amsterdam.

June 21: At around 4:45 a.m., two men entered the 2732 Convenience store at Broadway and West 105th Street and demanded cash from the register, police said. One of the men flashed a knife in his right hand, but both ended up fleeing without any money, police said.

June 23: At around 1:46 a.m., two men walked into the Columbia Smoke Shop at 974 Amsterdam Avenue and again demanded cash from the register, police said. One of the men told the employee that they had a gun and brandished a knife, police said. The other man then jumped over the counter and took $3,000 from the register, before running out of the store, police said.

There were no injuries in any of the 10 robberies, according to police.
