Upper West Side Sushi Bar Raises Its Prices To Over $1,000 A Meal
Masa, already one of the most expensive eateries in the world, is raising its prices by another $150 in April, according to its website.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Forget about the dollar slice and the 99 cent can of Arizona ice tea, New York City now has the $1,000 sushi dinner.
Masa, located on the Upper West Side in The Shops at Columbus Circle, was already known as the most expensive sushi bar in the United States, and now it is raising its prices next month to over $1,000 a meal.
A trip to the restaurant's reservation page shows that the Omasake eatery will begin charging $950 for a bar seat — up from the previous $800.

The total cost will be $1,034 after-tax, without any drink orders.
The meal consists of six appetizers, including the restaurant's signature Ohmi Beef Tataki, and 15 to 17 pieces of sushi based on seasonality and Chef Masa Takayama's "every-changing inspiration."

Dinner table reservations will also be going up an additional $100 in April, from $650 to $750.
Masa is one of five restaurants in New York City with three Michelin stars.
The restaurant received the maximum $5 million from the Restaurant Revitalization Fund last spring during the pandemic program.
Masa also raised its prices in 2021, introducing a new reservation system and charging customers a premium for a reserved seat at the famous counter, where customers can watch the chefs create the sushi.
Eater NY reports that the latest rent hike from Masa comes in connection to rising food and supply chain costs that have pushed fine dining sushi dinner prices up across the city.
The new $1,000 tables make Masa one of the most expensive restaurants in the world.
