Upper West Siders Can Now Vote On Projects For Participatory Budgeting

Schools, trees, playgrounds and repairing a set of stairs at Riverside Park all made the project lists from the two local council members.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — It's time to vote on the Upper West Side for how to spend $1 million in public dollars.

Participatory budgeting projects have been finalized from both Upper West Side City Council Members, Gale Brewer and Shaun Abreu.

The program allows for New Yorkers to submit proposals on how to spent $1 million of City Council funds from each council member who participates.

Luckily for Upper West Side residents, no matter which Council District you live in, you can vote on a set of projects.

Potential projects must benefit the public, cost at least $50,000 and have a lifespan of at least five years.

Projects for both City Council District 6 and 7 are now public, with each district looking for residents to vote on projects for their community.

Voting begins on April 6 through April 14 at pbnyc.org/vote and at select in-person locations.

Here's the list of final projects for each City Council District:

Council District 6

Gale Brewer (Between West 55th to roughly West 92nd Street)

For in-person voting, constituents can vote at Brewer’s district office at 563 Columbus Ave., between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, and between noon to 4 p.m. on the weekend.

Other voting locations include:

St. Agnes Library (444 Amsterdam Ave.)

  • Monday to Saturday, from noon until 5 p.m.

Riverside Library (127 Amsterdam Ave.)

  • Monday to Saturday, from noon until 5 p.m.

Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center (250 West 65th St.)

  • Monday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Shaun Abreu (Between West 92th to 165th Street)

Voters can also vote in person at Abreu’s district office at 500 West 141st St. from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

Bloomingdale Library (150 West 100th St.)

  • April 6: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • April 8 through 11: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • April 12 through 13: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Recirculation Community Library (876 Riverside Drive)

  • April 10 through 12: 6 to 9 p.m.
  • April 14: 3 to 6 p.m.
