Eater NY decided to take the debate head on and sample nine of the top shops on the Upper West Side, ranking them from top to bottom, to discover which shop is truly the best.

From West 108th Street to West 61st Street, critic Robert Sietsema walked just a touch over five miles in his journey.
To keep his testing scientific, he resolved to only order a plain, untoasted bagel with plain cream cheese at each bagel shop.
